Local NWTF Chapter Takes Awards at State Convention
It was not uncommon to hear “The Central Valley Struttin’ Gobblers” spoken at last weekends NWTF State Convention in Mitchell. The local wildlife conservation group was awarded three first place finishes and one second place for “Medium Sized Banquets/Chapters”. The categories were as follows:
· Best Net to Gross Performance (1st Place)
· Most Women in the Outdoors Members (1st Place)
· Most Jakes Members (1st Place)
· Most Conservation Dollars Raised (2nd Place)
These four accomplishments signify the dedication of the group and uphold their mission statement…”dedicated to conservation and preservation of the hunting heritage”. Overall the Central Valley Struttin’ Gobblers (CVSG) also made an impact amongst the other 31 chapters in the South Dakota by contributing in the following areas:
· Full Strut (improve in at least 4 of 10 categories)
· Turkey Hunters Care (food & cash donation to Humboldt Food Haven)
+ Contributing sponsor of the Humboldt Sharp Shooters
· Jakes Event (conducted an Ice Fishing Derby for area youth)
· Women In The Outdoors (event dedicated to women & youth)
By meeting the required criteria the CVSG earned the right to be considered a FIVE STAR CHAPTER. This was accomplished by only 3 other chapters in state. The CVSG will continue to support the Hartford/Humboldt area with efforts like conservation awareness, food plot assistance, non-profit contributions and educational programs. However the members of the group would like to convey that future donations are primarily contingent on the funds raised at the upcoming banquet on January 30th, 2010.
If you would like to be a business sponsor or attend this event please feel free to call Co-Chairs, Greg Boddicker/605-528-3592 or Scott Nelson/605-528-7320. The members of the CVSG would like to thank all of those who made 2009 an extremely successful year and look forward to your participation for many years to come.
